Men's Monsoon Classic Jacket

Breathe easy - the icon has evolved.

They say the most important things are generally the ones you can’t see.

And that’s certainly the case with our new, re-engineered Monsoon Classic Jacket.

Just like the original, it’s totally waterproof, reassuringly durable and completely windproof.

This latest version, however, offers a huge step forward in terms of “breathability”—or, as the fabric boffins like to call it: Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate.

So, however hard you’re working, you won’t get that uncomfortable, clammy, sweaty feeling on the inside of the jacket. Which is obviously great news for all the proper grafters (AKA Ridgeline customers) out there.

The 3-layer construction features a brushed polyester outer with a C0 durable water-repellent finish for protection, tear resistance and durability in combination with a warm, soft hand-feel.

The rugged, full-length front zip features chunky zip-pullers for ease of use with gloves or mitts. A deep, popper-fastened storm flap keeps wind and rain where it belongs—on the outside.

The large, flap-protected chest pocket offers plenty of storage space for work or outdoor essentials. Two zipped lower pockets provide extra capacity—and a place to warm up your hands on cold mornings.

A deep, wired hood features three adjustment points and provides a close-fitting haven in harsh, windy conditions. When not is use, it simply rolls away into the collar.

A tough, adjustable drawcord at the waist fine-tunes the fit and seals in the warmth.

The cuffs are wide enough to allow the sleeves to be rolled up in warmer conditions and feature Velcro-adjustments to cinch them tight to your wrists in the very worst weather.

Great coat looks amazing one niggle

I love this coat and it looks amazing. Although I wear it for work in the forest it gets lots on comments about how good it looks. My one niggle would be when it gets very wet the cuffs hold water making the sleeve area very wet and slightly uncomfortable. Could do with an inside pocket maybe. Over all I love it.

First Rate!

My first buy from Ridgeline. Its a good size so I can get layers underneath and I've been kept warm and dry whilst being outside in the recent storms. I can definitely confirm that it is waterproof and windproof! I love this coat.

So comfy & warm!

Wore for the first time this weekend as I was beating. The leggings are super generous in size, I would say order your normal dress size and you'll have lots of room (but not too much). Was really surprised at how durable they are, I was beating through some heavy cover and not a snag! Really impressed, highly recommend

It fits me perfectly, too many waterproof jackets are either too big or too small for me. Ridgeline probably make some of the best waterproof jackets out there today for the money.

Great coat

I've been using this for my walks on the South Downs, the weather has been pretty grim but I've stayed waterproof and warm. Great jacket.

Hi Lawrence, thanks so much for the great review! We're delighted your Monsoon Classic Jacket is keeping you warm and dry on your walks across the South Downs, even in grim weather. Happy exploring!

Great Jacket

Very comfortable and practical jacket, my introduction to this brand, for me the thinking man’s Barbour.

Hi Vishnu, we're thrilled to hear you love the jacket! Thanks for choosing Ridgeline and for sharing your experience. Enjoy your new gear!

Superb quality waterproof

This is another extremely high quality jacket from Ridgeline. The fit is perfect and I especially like that the neck is a good size so I can actually wear it comfortably zipped up. Unlike so many manufacturers, the sleeves are long enough, which is another positive. This jacket is for working in, not just walking in, so proper sleeves are important. The material is quite heavyweight but the fabric doesn’t really rustle so it doesn’t look or feel too much like a waterproof, however it absolutely works against a good downpour. The double zip is great for comfortably sitting in vehicles, and because it doesn’t go all the way to the bottom of the jacket, gives you plenty of movement without restriction when bending down etc

For me, the only improvement would be a more substantial way to stow the hood. The single toggle is just a bit naff and while it works it doesn’t let you stow the hood neatly. A minor issue indeed.

All I need now is to get some waterproof over trousers.

Hi James, thank you for your detailed review! We're thrilled to hear you love the fit and quality of the Monsoon Classic Jacket. Your feedback about the hood is valuable, and we'll pass it along to our design team. Enjoy your waterproof over trousers when you get them, we have our Cambrian Trousers you could try next. Thanks for choosing Ridgeline.
